Where are you currently based in?
I am currently based in Lahore, Pakistan.
For compliance purposes, I also own and operate a business entity in United States which can be used for direct bank transfers and contracts, where needed.
Can you overlap with US hours?
Yes, all of them. I get to live my childhood dream of staying up all night, and as a result, it allows me to work and collaborate during 9-5 US East and West Coast hours.
What is your hourly rate?
It is very hard to calculate hours worked on design, specially on research and strategy work. I prefer weekly, monthly retainer or if the scope is well defined, then value-based fixed priced projects.
Can you work with our existing design team?
Yes. I have led several teams, hired and mentored designers, including those outside of my primary discipline. I’ve also had the privilege to work under some exceptional leaders. I can join your Slack or collaboration tools so your team doesn’t have to make any adjustments to get me onboard.
At what stage of a project should we get you onboard?
I love building products from the ground up. Working with product owners, co-founders and senior engineering early-on allows me to understand the roadmap and business goals. This allows design with better decisions to prioritize features, design and prototype them, and get them shipped, while keeping the business goals a priority. I work across the entire product design spectrum, and can jump in wherever needed to ensure your project is a success.
Our design team is struggling. How can you help?
In a few critical situations, I have even managed to get non-designers to help craft creative solutions. Sometimes all the design team is looking for is a change in their process, some refresher, validation, confidence, or a mix of all of these. Please get in touch and we can figure out how best to help you.
How do you test your designs?
I feel very privileged to have some very talented designer and business owner friends. I often share my design work with them to get their feedback. A lot of time, the most valuable feedback comes from non-designers who largely view those designs from the perspective of a user, rather than the visual elements. I am also a part of several Slack design groups where I can share the work.
For a larger audience sample, I analyze the analytics and go back to personalized user testing to narrow down on the problems and work on solutions accordingly.
Do you also code?
I don’t think every designer has to, but I do. I have become so comfortable with Webflow that a few of my recent (decent-looking) websites never even had a design file, other than branding assets and wireframe sketches.
Imagine the cost you can save by hiring a designer who can easily jump to production and the final deliverable, instead of a static design file, or animated After Effects prototype will be a fully functional website.
